Abdominoplasty

Also known as a “tummy tuck,” this procedure involves removal of excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tightening of the abdominal wall muscles. Often combined with liposuction, this procedure is sought by patients with loose, sagging skin and separation (diastasis) of their abdominal muscles following pregnancy or massive weight loss. This is usually an outpatient procedure, and recovery involves surgical drains as well as orders to avoid lifting more than 10 pounds for 6 weeks postoperatively to allow the repair to heal.
